COVID-19 Resources
Dear Members, Friends, Emergency Physicians, Nurses, PAs, First Responders, and their Families:
The Academy applauds you for putting your life on the line every day to support your patients and to save lives, both in this country and throughout the world. Emergency healthcare professionals are everyday heroes, but never so much as in this unprecedented pandemic. It is unlikely that such widespread illness has been seen globally since the influenza epidemic of the early 20th century. AAEM recognizes the need for resources and supplies, and it is our intent to assist in any way we can. We hope that the following list of resources can assist you in your work. You know better than others that this is a fluid situation, changing every few hours. We will attempt to continue to update our resources both here and on social media as the situation changes. Reach out to us with any needs or concerns. AAEM is and will remain THE CHAMPION OF THE EMERGENCY PHYSICIAN. Be assured that the greater AAEM family is praying for all of our colleagues and their families. Your safety in the workplace is part of our mission. Thank you for all that you do, and the sacrifices your loved ones make so that you can make a difference in the world.
On behalf of the entire Academy,
Lisa A, Moreno, MD MS MSCR FAAEM FIFEM
President, AAEM

COCA Call - Guidance for Certifying Deaths Due to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)
Monitoring the emergence of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and guiding public health response requires accurate and timely mortality data. Mortality data from the National Vital Statistics System (NVSS) is a key source of information on causes of death. These data are derived from information reported on death certificates. Death certificates are one of the few sources of health-related data that are comparable for small geographic areas and are available over a long time period in the United States. The data are used to examine the characteristics of those dying in the United States, calculate life expectancy, compare mortality trends with other countries, and more recently, to monitor deaths due to COVID-19. View the webinar.
