ED Operations Certificate Course (EDOCC)

Do you know why your emergency department is crowded, your staff is burned out, and your patients are upset? More importantly, do you understand how to go about fixing these issues?

ED operations management involves the coordination and optimization of the processes that deliver services to patients. In the real world, this means getting the most out of your finite resources to provide high-quality, effective, and timely care.

The ED Operations Certificate Course (EDOCC) is not about the latest fad in patient flow or cookie cutter solutions. It is about understanding the fundamental concepts and principles that are germane to EM systems of care, and applying that understanding to develop focused and sustainable solutions in your own ED.

EDOCC is the next step in education after the ED Management Solutions course. It will provide a deep dive into disciplines such as Lean, the Theory of Constraints, Queuing Theory, advanced patient and staff experience concepts, quality and performance improvement, and the change management strategies necessary to achieve your goals.

EDOCC will help you determine the critical bottlenecks to patient flow, understand the most important factors that affect patient experience and staff burnout, ensure you are providing safe, high-quality care, and identify and quantify opportunities for improvement. The solutions are almost never as simple as just adding more staff, or space, or equipment. Geek Warning: Not for the faint of heart.
