AAEM Sends Letters to All 50 Governors and President Donald J. Trump
On April 7, 2020 the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) sent letters to all 50 governors and President Donald J. Trump. The letters called on governors and the President to use their powers to protect emergency physicians by extending the state's sovereign immunity to them or by raising the standard to prevail in a malpractice suit from ordinary negligence to gross negligence/willful misconduct, or both during COVID-19.
